The bureau of low technology, founded in 1997, repurposes obsolete media for art and entertainment scenerios. Appropriating early computer marketing, vintage electronics and 8-bit video gaming aesthetics, bolt invokes an sense of "technostalgia" while celebrating the failure of false futures promised by the dawn of the "information age." By revitalizing and repurposing otherwise "dead media," the bureau pays homage to the forgotten and discarded technologies of the past and celebrates them in the present. bolt has exhibited widely in the United States in places like the San Francsico Museum of Modern Art and Transcinema, and in Europe at festivals like Ars Electronica in Austria and the Salon Biennial in Croatia.
